VFXRio 2017 brings big names in visual effects production to Rio.

The third edition of VFXRio took place on December 8th and 9th at the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Tomorrow. It featured the participation of Dan Lemmon (WETA VFX), winner of the 2017 Oscar for visual effects for the film The Jungle Book. Lemmon helped develop the technique called performance capture, which records the performance of real actors and creates the movements of fictional characters such as Caesar from Planet of the Apes, played by Andy Serkis. Richard Clegg (MPC) presented the technical and creative challenges he faced in creating the digital character Rachael, played by Sean Young, in the 1982 film Blade Runner, a challenge that took nine months to complete and won an Oscar in 2018. VFXRio 2017 included lectures, panels, and workshops. The guests at VFXRio 2017 represented the following organizations: Globo, Intel, NVIDIA, Weta VFX, MPC, SuperUber, Quanta Post, Museum of Tomorrow, Mistika VR, and ACM Signgraph.
