Larry Bafia

Animator and educator who works with various media, Larry began his career in stop motion and claymation with Will Vinton Studios in Portland, Oregon. At Vinton Studios for nearly a decade, Larry worked on stop motion projects such as California Raisins, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, and numerous other commercial projects before joining PDI.
During his seven years as Director of Commercial Animation at PDI/Dreamworks, Larry directed commercials for many major clients, including Coca-Cola, Sega, Intel, Kraft, and Target.
While working at PDI/Dreamworks, Larry was also a sequence animator on several successful films, including Antz and Batman & Robin, and was part of the effects team for Mission: Impossible II, among other films. At Warner Brothers, Larry served as an animator for the stop-motion development team on Tim Burton's feature film Mars Attacks.
From 2002 to 2008, Larry was head of the animation and visual effects department at Vancouver Film School. Larry also served as vice president of faculty and development at VanArts and was Director of the SIGGRAPH 2018 Computer Animation Festival. Currently, he is a senior faculty member in the Master's program in Digital Media at the Centre for Digital Media, Vancouver BC.
