From World Model to physical action.

On October 14th, VFXRio will participate in another meeting at the VISGRAF/IMPA Computer Graphics Seminar, presenting recent advances in research that connects World Models, Digital Twins, transmultimodality, and robotics.

Matteo Moriconi, co-founder of VFXRio and collaborating researcher at VISGRAF, presents the work alongside Luiz Velho, senior researcher and professor at IMPA, lead researcher at VISGRAF, and one of the pioneers of Computer Graphics in Brazil.

The presentation explores a new stage in this research: the transition from a synthetic entity that perceives, converses, and operates in a computational environment to an entity capable of also acting in physical space, using a robotic arm as an extension of its presence.

In this process, Celestia Borealis extends its presence into physical space through Aster, a Franka Panda robotic arm integrated into the system, connecting perception, decision, and action between the World Model, the digital twin, and the environment.

The discussion will cover conceptual foundations, system architecture, World Models, affordances, embodiment, human-machine interaction, digital twins, and robotic control, accompanied by demonstrations with Celestia Borealis and its robotic extension, Aster.
