ARMANDO RICALDE

ARMANDO RICALDE General Manager and Visual Effects Producer at Ollin VFX. Founded in 1998 in Mexico City, Ollin VFX is one of the largest visual effects production companies in Latin America. Since 2006, Ollin has worked on major films and series such as Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron Legacy, Pirates of the Caribbean, House of Cards, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, to name a few. Armando studied computer graphics while studying physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he performed community service in projects supporting astrophysics research.

Between 1998 and 2001, he produced several award-winning 3D animations for the University's Institute of Astronomy. Doc, as he is known, began his VFX career in 2001 at Ollin Studio as a CG artist, working on modeling, shading, change effects, particles, and fluids. Later, he worked as a freelance artist on many advertising projects and during that time, he was vice president of the ACM SIGGRAPH professional chapter in Mexico City. In 2004, he co-founded Cluster Studio, an agency that offered creative services, animation, visual effects, and post-production to the Mexican advertising industry, quickly becoming one of the largest and most important production companies in Mexico.

During his 13 years at Cluster, he held various positions, from artist to CTO, including CG Supervisor and VFX Supervisor. In 2014, Armando was honored with the Shotgun Pipeline Hero Award in its inaugural edition. Currently, Ollin VFX is working on the fourth and final season of the series Mr. Robot.
